Park is open daily (winter hours, 10 a.m.-3 p.m are in effect). Our experienced guides are available to lead visitors on tours of our operating steam roundhouse, where maintenance activities are conducted as they have been for over a century. Visitors get an up-close look at our historic locomotives and gain insight into the challenges of maintaining industrial-age equipment in a modern world.
Singing Rails Railroad Music Event–August 21st
As long as there have been trains, there have been train songs to sing. An important part of the American Railroad experience, this type of folk music was created and performed by railroad workers, and the communities they lived. Join us at Railtown for this unique new event, which promises to bring together the best of California folk musicians.

Minature Live Steam locomotives on display all weekend! Regular steam-powered excursion train rides depart Saturday, Sunday, and Monday over the holiday weekend, in addition to special trains pulled by the recently restored Sierra #3. Sierra #3 Weekend! October 2nd & 3rd
Recently restored, the 1891 Rogers locomotive, the Sierra #3, is in operation this weekend, in addition to our regular train service, creating a very active weekend at Railtown. Special advanced sale ticket prices apply and are available for purchase online.
Autumn Festival October 9, Kicks off Harvest Haunt Express October 9 &10, 16&17, 23 & 24, 30 & 31
Climb aboard Railtown’s answer to Halloween: the Harvest Haunt Express, with our “Skeleton Crew” aboard, and fun harvest-themed games and activities. Specially decorated steam-powered excursion trains depart on the hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., filled with fun for the whole family! October 9th is Members Day, with handcar rides and special demonstrations.
Santa Express-November 26-28, December 18 & 19
Santa visits Railtown! Climb aboard our steam-powered excursion train, departing on the hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and ride along with the Jolly Gentleman! Regular ticket prices apply.
Santa’s Starlight Express-November 26th & 27th
Bundle up and ride with Santa and a train full of carolers on our most magical excursion of the whole year. Railtown’s cars, depot and watertank are lighted for the season, creating an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Ticket prices $24 adults, $12 youth, and children 5 and under, riding in laps, free. First class observation car; ticket prices, $30 adults, $15 youth and children 5 and under, riding in laps are free.
Christmas Boutique- November & December TBD
Browse through a unique selection of old-fashioned hand made crafts, and try your hand at some yourself. The Holiday Boutique has been a long tradition at Railtown, and all items are created locally with proceeds supporting park programs.
