Railtown 1897 Supports the Community & Local Law Enforcement by Offering Free Admission, Train Rides & More on National Night Out

California State Parks are proud to participate in National Night Out happening on Tuesday evening, August 7, 2018.

JAMESTOWN, Calif. – California State Parks, the California State Railroad Museum Foundation and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown are proud to participate in National Night Out happening on Tuesday evening, August 7, 2018. Railtown 1897 SHP will be open from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. offering special activities such as free Park admission, free excursion train rides behind a historic diesel locomotive, free speeder rides, fun giveaways (while supplies last), canine demonstrations by California State Parks, K9 Unit, hands-on activities for children, plus “meet and greet” opportunities with several local law enforcement agencies.

With one departure that evening at 5 p.m., excursion train rides are first-come, first-served based on availability. The 45-minute round trip ride along the rails of the famous “Movie Railroad,” passing through California’s scenic Gold Country where scenes from many Hollywood movies were filmed. Guests are encouraged to spend the evening at Railtown 1897 SHP connecting with the community while touring the Park and learning more about its authentic railroad facilities and fascinating role in the Hollywood and television industry.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much more.
